Dog Sled Ride

The Dog Sled Experience is a fun one, offered by Thunder Mountain Dog Sleds.  They take place on Mirror Lake (90 min away), and though it’s a bit far, it’s a beautiful drive and a great experience.  The rides are a 1/2 mile loop (taking less than 10 min).  Yes, it’s a short ride, but look at this as a scenic drive to/from Mirror Lake, coupled with a very memorable experience that you probably never thought you’d do in your life.

Thunder Mountain Dog Sleds doesn’t operate a website, but they are reliably on Mirror Lake offering rides every Fri, Sat and Sun, Dec, Jan, and Feb.  They are located across the street from High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid, typically with a large crowd looking on (it’s very picturesque).

Offered:

  • Fridays 10AM – 5PM
  • Saturdays 10AM – 5PM
  • Sundays 10AM – 5PM
  • And, the week following Christmas and during President’s Week, they’re open all week too.

*Ticket (yes, the one on your wristband) may be used anytime on chosen day during operating hours.  Those without a ticket will need to pay for their ride.  Rides are first come, first served.  Dog sled rides are only available through February.
